Welcome

Welcome to the official website of the Erie County Recycling Program. This site has been assembled to assist the residents of Erie County with managing trash by reducing your waste and recycling. We're also here to help people set up municipal, school, work or individual recycling programs.

WHY RECYCLE?
An average family of four in Erie County will produce over 5000 pounds of trash this year. That sounds hard to believe until you realize that each one of us generates four pounds a day. How many people are in your family? How many families live near you? Enough to make a pretty big mess of our County, our Country and our planet unless we do something about it. That's where the Erie County Recycling Program comes in. We're here to help you manage your trash and turn it into something better.

DO YOUR PART
The Erie County Recycling program has launched a new awareness campaign called Do Your Part for the 2010 year.  In order to reach Erie County's goal of 40 % of all solid waste is recycled, each resident, business, and organization must do their part if we are to reach our goal by 2011. On average, each resident will need to reduce the daily waste footprint by two pounds and increase their recycling by four pounds.  Here is what four pounds of additional recycling looks like.
